The Little People Are Trying to Kill Me

I’ve had blogs before this one. They were more word oriented.  I was reading a beautifully written blog the other night and was heartsick that I don’t take the time to write anymore.  But the truth of the matter is that I don’t have the brainpower these day/years.  By the time I put the offspring down for the night, I am gone.  One piece of offspring in particular is unusually high-maintenance.  I wouldn’t trade my place in life right now for THE WORLD, but man I am beat down.  Lots of barf.  Lots of tiny fists in my face.  Lots of screaming and time out and food throwing and crying and poop and fighting and constant constant constant noise.

This. Week. Was. Hard.

All I have to say right now is this.  And I’m saying it in black and white.

  • Giant moon! Can’t wait to see it on Saturday! And also I’m sorry your week was hard.

    • Saturday, huh? I wouldn’t know. I never watch the news.
      (ha ha?)

  • Awww sorry you’re so tired! The illustration is beautiful of course – any chance of a babysitter just for one evening so that you can relax?

    • My husband is great about sending me out for a bit to escape the toddlers. And then of course I miss them…..

  • Get a good picture of the Saturday moon and insert it in a new post. I’m sure you can come up with something cool.

    • Somebody remind me so I remember to look up!

  • Hello! stress is killer isn’t it? I wish I had some suggestions for you, but you would prolly just want to slap me, as I don’t have kids :P well, try vegetarianism, and doterra essential oils and a good multivitamin plus sublingual B12, try sean beeson’s album ‘ivory dreams’… hmmm… can’t think of anything else lol ok you can slap me now :)

    • Hi! Those are all great suggestions! I’m not exactly a spring chicken anymore….
I also need to quit drinking my weight in coffee.

  • I sat next to a lady at a fundraiser the other night and she was asking us about having kids. Seems she and her fiance aren’t getting any younger and she had been debating the merits of having kids. I said to her, “Being a parent is a daily battle for your life and sanity; I highly recommend it and can’t imagine any other life.” Then I drank some more wine.

    • This needs to be a commercial! Hilarious!

  • I feel for you – I’m sorry it was such a hard week! Here’s hoping the next one will be better.

    • Thank you!! Me too. Maybe I’ll win a trip to N Korea and I’ll have a renewed appreciation for things.

  • It’s amazing how wonderful and horrible parenting can be at the exact same time. Here’s hoping for an extra helping of wonderful next week.

    • Thanks. Wonderful would be awesome. Even if it comes in the form of cake, that’s fine.

  • Deep breath. Glass of wine. Piece of chocolate.

    • Deep breath, glass of chocolate, piece of whine! Got it!

  • Writing with pictures and words is writing just as much. Maybe when you get some braintime back as the barf decreases you’ll get more time to write prose. There will be time for that.

For now, you are doing something few people can do. You totally stand out from the crowd and it is clever, and funny, and creative.

    • Than you, pish! I appreciate that! And thanks for your great blog today!

  • I’m sorry you’ve had such a rough week. I came over via Pish Posh up there and I’m having so much fun reading your site! Love your drawings!

    • Thanks! Things are usually better by Frday night. I got my ice water. And my box of cereal. And a cough drop. Things are looking up.

  • I love that picture. I went back at looked at it for a couple of minutes. You’re such a talent.
I wish i could tell you it gets easier, the jobs and duties change, the haul is long, but the rewards are so worth every barfy incident. :)

    • Thank you, ken! It is worth it! And more!

  • I LOVE this picture. Just what I needed too. Look up, btw! :)

    • Thanks faith! I looked up and was dissapointed by the regular moon in the sky. I was hoping for something a little more sci-fi!

  • Bummer about the craptacular week. LOVE the b&w image.

    • This week is already better. Lots of “mommy I love lou!”‘s

  • This is so beautiful. Honestly Violet…your pictures? Who needs words when you can make art like that? Someday, someday, I’m going to buy your art and hang it in my house. Hope next week is better than last!

    • Thank you, Stephanie!!! It’s so fun to experiment with my iPad drawings. I never thought I’d do this kind of thing. Maybe I need to have a painting giveaway!

  • I feel the same way.

I see so much beautiful writing, and all I can do is slap a HAHA DIDJA SEE THIS FUNNY VIDEO ON YOUTUBE up.

oh, well: believe me when I tell you, your pictures here and funny texts are the nice break from all the words out there.
