Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Blog

So I’ve started several blog posts in the past few weeks that I haven’t been able to finish because of time.

Waaa.  (Poor me.  Somebody call a Waaambulance)

The first post was for my Step-Father-Figure’s 70th Bday!  From here on out I shall refer to him as Victory 2010.

That guy is a riot to have around.  I could  sit there and listen to him talk all day.  He is the red-neck to my mothers yogurt-hippie.  He might be from Tiny-Town, Texas, but that guy has an interest in ALL THE THINGS.

My favorite is hearing The Discovery Channel as narrated by Victory 2010.

Happy Birthday Victory 2010!!

A couple weeks back I was having a reflective moment where I looked at some other blogs, like Leauxra’s (her tablet drawings blow my mind!), and Gweenbrick’s (his life in the most genuinely ironic that I’ve ever seen. He should be discussing poetry with mental giants instead of wiping the poop from grown bottoms in an institution.)

I wanted to DRAW SOMETHING REAL.  SAY SOMETHING REAL.

I was thinking about Africa.  The sunsets right on the beach by our cottage.

I was remembering the first day I took a long walk on the southern tip of a continent where I knew not a single person.

I was walking in a land where places like Darfur happen.  Somalia.  Rwanda.  The Congo.

Then I thought even further back to Chicago…..

Aaaaaannnnnd thats where I discovered a whole new set of brushes in my drawing program.

Sorry. I go downhill real fast.

In other news, I painted some acorns.

Don’t take this nut-display lightly.

It was a mixed martial arts fight just trying to get them back into the house.

And thats all I have.  Good night.

  • From the looks of it, your blog uses a litter box.

And because of your use of “y’all” in that last pic, now every time I read you saying something, I’m going to hear Sandy’s voice (you know, from Spongebob).

    • Put sandy’s twang on Patrick’s voice and it will be fairly accurate.
Unfortunately my blog is NOT housebroken. Such a stubborn blog. Leaves little “treats” all over the house.

  • How can I get a painting of the acorns…?

    • I think that could be arranged. Isn’t your birthday coming up??

  • You know, dear friend….I have entered “y’all” as a word in my phone. And use it daily. Emails, texts, official county documents….yup, all the time. Oh yeah….”yup” too.

    • Yes, y’all is a regular fixture in all my communications. How can you even avoid it?

  • Painted acorns!!

    • Yes. I can never make it to hobby lobby so I have to paint things I find on the ground.

  • wonderful post and without a doubt my favorite part is Victory 2010′s South Padre tshirt

    cheers!

    • Thanks! It seemed appropriate.

  • Great pictures! I love how you went from Darfur to new brushes so quickly, and without any apparent guilt

    • Thanks Gween. You know, I only have time for certain categories of guilt. I’m sure when the kids get a little older I’ll have the opportunity to dabble in a broader range.

  • I love the acorn battle with the kids! :)

    • I’m sure my neighbors thing I’m a big jerk.

  • I kind of always knew that’s what a blog looked like.

    • Especially mine!

  • Hee! Victory 2010′s South Padre shirt cracked me up. He reminds me of my uncle.

    • Doesn’t every Texan have a South Padre shirt?

  • Who even THINKS to paint acorns?

*What do you want to do tonight honey?*

*Oh, I thought I’d paint some acorns*

    LOL!

    • We have some variation of that conversation on a weekly basis. Poor The Dark Knight.

  • Hilarious. Cannot believe you gave your blog a face. I want to hear more about your step father. Just found out that your mother remarried.

    Love you guys.

    • Thanks pat! The husband is great. He’s fun. Has a motorcycle. Great hair. Great sense of humor.

  • My blog is ALSO a neglectasauraus. Poor baby. But you know, when it pees in my shoes, it’s hard to be nice to it.

And THANK YOU for the shout out.

I am going out on a limb here and say… was your program Sketchbook? Sketchbook and I broke up a couple weeks ago, but my rebound app and I are quickly becoming a “thing” (Fresco Paint Pro… I can mix colors!).

And your new pictures are amazing.

I’m doing a challenge next month… not just NaNoWriMo, but also to draw one thing every day on my tablet. Every. Day. You should do it too. Because. Just, because. Then you have an excuse to draw daily.

  • It IS Sketchbook Pro! And there are definitely things about it that I don’t like. I’ll try yours!
The daily challenge sounds fun! I might do that too…..

  • Aww, the widdy biddy bwog is so cute! It needs a snuggle. ;-) I totally dig your painted acorns. Very cool!

    • Thank you! I’m loving my acorns too! I have a whole bucket just waiting to be painted.

  • I wish I could “like” other peoples comments. They crack me up and I find myself wanting to click the like button and there just isn’t one.

Got anything to say? Go ahead and leave a comment!
