I Love This Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Want to know why?????

Well, this past week, as you know, was really …….actually, let me back up a little.

2008.  I was doing alright in 2008.  I’d worked hard for many years, but then we moved from Chicago to Africa. And I “fell” pregnant.  We had no money but I didn’t have to work and we lived by the beach (so who cares if you have money when you have that kind of fabulousness??).

I spent everyday outside with the dogs. I stuffed my face with strawberries from the farm.  Heaven!

Things were going pretty good for me until about September. Not only did I turn 34, but this happened….

And then I had Siegfried in December. And since then, life has basically gone like this:

Which brings us to today.  My mother-in-law, Honey, offered to take BOTH BOYS.

I was all….

Where do you even START when you have that kind of time?  Now, I’m not one to use my time wisely, so here’s what I did…

And most importantly……

  • That’s awesome.

My wife and I usually celebrate temporary freedom by getting blind drunk and having tons of fun that we can’t remember. That way we can live vicariously through ourselves.

“Remember when we took a Lear jet to Alaska to watch the Aurora?”

    “We didn’t do that!”

“We could have on Friday! Lord knows my bank account looks like we did it.”

    “We are so awesome.”

    • Yeah I just hit the cokes really hard and end up staying up all night and vowing to never drink caffeine again. It’s a good thing I don’t own a credit card…..

  • Flabulass! My favorite new word! I too am flabulass! I love you, Violet, and I want to clone you 47 million times and make all of yous live in my neighborhood.

    • If your neighborhood was populated by me, the lawns would never get mowed. Except yours. We’d totally mow your lawn.
      Why did that sound gross?

  • Haha… the illustration under the line “and most importantly…” is sooooo funny and cute! Glad you had some time to yourself – and what you did with the feathers is very pretty. Hurray for peeing in private!

    • 100% pure excitement. I bet I lost a couple punds just from the adrenaline.

  • For as funny as this story is, I also find it really beautiful:) I need to get my art on again! My son is 16 so I now have forced time alone. What to do, what to do…

    • Do the art! Pinterest is a good inspiration point. You know, if you have 47 million free hours.

  • You will get those moments of freedom back. It will just take a few years. My youngest is old enough now, she just leaves the house all by herself and it is ok. No one dies.

    • I can’t wait! (it scares me to death…….)

  • The peacock feathers look even more beautiful and unique when you walk in the front and see them. Great job!!!!

  • Alone time is a precious and beautiful thing – you get to pee without an audience.

    • The dog still follows me….

  • Love your story, love your artistic display, love your illustrations… Will you be my friend?
    Please?
    No, for realz.

  • Too Too funny. I’ll be back.

    • Good! Come back! (are you wearing terminator glasses?)

  • I laughed and laughed and laughed at your timeline. I’m pretty flabulass myself.

    • Yeah, how does that happen?

Got anything to say? Go ahead and leave a comment!
